Young Enterprise Company Programme
Summary:
Business advisors are required for the flagship Young Enteprise Company Programme 2008/9.
Description:
Young Enterprise is delighted to announce that they have had a huge response from schools in Hull and East Riding wishing to participate in their flagship initiative, ‘The Company Programme’ this year. They are now in pursuit of motivated and enthusiastic business people who would like to use their expertise to invest in local entrepreneurs of the future.
The Young Enterprise Programmes are based on the principle of "learning by doing" and each programme involves practical, fun, hands-on activity led by a volunteer from local business or the community working alongside teachers/lecturers with specifically designed Young Enterprise programmes. These programmes provide young people, irrespective of background and ability, with the opportunity to develop their skills, drive, knowledge and enthusiasm.
In the Company Programme, students aged 15 to 19 set up and run their own company over the course of one academic year. They elect a board of directors from amongst their peers, raise share capital and market and finance a product or service of their own choice. At the end of the year they liquidate the company and present a report and accounts. Formal recognition of the skills and abilities developed through the Company Programme is offered via the Young Enterprise Qualification that all Company Programme participants are invited to sit. The role of the Business Advisor is to be a facilitator; to attend their meetings and offer support and advice when required. It is normally a commitment of one hour per week for an academic year.
This unique relationship is rewarding for all involved. Your support is an effective way to demonstrate your corporate social responsibility. It also provides opportunities for recognition, networking and creates a positive PR platform. Current supporters find it leads to job satisfaction and employee satisfaction. You also have the added bonus of seeing the bright young talent that you may want to employ in the future.
If you are interested in supporting Young Enterprise and becoming a business volunteer please contact Melinda at Young Enterprise.
